Greater Nashville Community Giveback Initiative

The CGR Back-to-School Bash began in 2020 as a part of our CGR Youth Development Initiative in response to the negative economic impact that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the Greater Nashville community. It is now an annual event during which we solicit community sponsors and volunteers to fill thousands of backpacks with school supplies. Beyond school supplies, we also distribute diapers, baby wipes, dental and personal hygiene products, socks, and cleaning supplies.

From 2020 to current, CGR has distributed over 15,000 backpacks to the Greater Nashville community with the help of our sponsors and community partners.

It’s Our 5th Year Anniversary!!

Arts Edition

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, we proudly partnered with Metro Nashville Public Schools Visual Arts, The PENCIL Foundation, and other local nonprofits to host a Back-to-School Bash, ensuring students had the resources they need for a successful school year. At the event, we distributed over 1,000 backpacks filled with art supplies, along with diapers, books, and other school essentials. To further support our community, we also offered free haircuts, creating a day of giving and celebration that set students up for success as they head back to the classroom.

A 2022 study on arts education found it reduces disciplinary incidents, boosts writing skills, and fosters emotional empathy. Notably, it benefits elementary students by increasing school engagement, aspirations for higher education, and cognitive empathy. With budget cuts looming in Tennessee, ensuring access to arts supplies is crucial for students' development as artists. At CGR, we believe in the transformative power of arts education!

2024 Winter Supply Drive

To finish the 2023-2024 academic school year strong, Creative Girls Rock®️ in partnership with the Tennessee Titans Foundation and Titans Safety, Terrell Edmunds, hosted a 2nd Semester Back-2-School Drive on January 6, 2024! The purpose of this event is to provide necessary resources, such as school supplies, backpacks, and other essentials, ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed academically for the remaining of the academic school year.

Thanks to the success of previous years, we doubled the number of community partners in 2022 including: Amazon, Amerigroup, FINN Partners, NES Uplift, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle TN, TC Energy, The Equity Alliance, Sony Music, Vanderbilt University, The Pencil Foundation and other local nonprofits to distribute at least 10,000 backpacks to families across Middle, TN.

2021 Back 2 School Bash

As a part of our CGR Youth Development Initiative, Creative Girls Rock partnered with the Youth Services Division of the Metro Nashville Police, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle TN, Girls Inc. of YWCA of Middle TN, The Equity Alliance, Beautifully Spirited Women and other organizations across Greater Nashville for the annual Back-to-School Bash held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at McKissack Middle School.

Backpacks included: Color Pencils, Composition Books, Crayons, Folders, Glue Sticks, Highlighters, Rulers, Paper, Pencil Pouches, Pencils, Scissors, Glue, Erasers, Markers, Spiral Notebooks, Earphones and Pencil Sharpers.

Across nine locations in Middle Tennessee, we distributed over 3,000 backpacks filled with supplies, diapers, baby wipes, dental and personal hygiene products, and Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse buckets that included cleaning and disinfectant supplies.
