Celebrating Diversity
CGR and The Breaking The SSickle Cell Cycle Foundation, Inc. have teamed up to Help Spread Awareness About the Many Faces of Sickle Cell Disease!
Did you know that sickle cell disease affects millions of people throughout the world? Although SCD is most common among African Americans in the United States, it can also affect Hispanics and people whose ancestors come from countries in South Asia (such as India), southern Europe (such as Greece and Italy), and the Middle East (such as Saudi Arabia and Lebanon).
If you have a classmate, friend, or family member who has sickle cell disease or sickle cell trait, you may wonder how you can help. Knowing a little about the condition will help you find ways to be supportive. Join us as we celebrate the diversity in sickle cell through art.
During this workshop participants will create a unique sickle shaped cell using materials that represents multi-cultural backgrounds to embrace culture, kindness, acceptance, empathy, and love.
